5 Point Anti-Corruption Agenda

Ro introduced a 5-point reform to clean up Congress: banning PAC and lobbyist money, banning congressional stock trading, preventing members from becoming lobbyists, setting term limits for Congress and Supreme Court justices, and creating a judicial code of ethics for the Supreme Court.

Stop Cheaters Act

After the Robinhood and GameStop meltdown, Ro introduced the CHEATERS Act to crack down on tax evasion by the wealthiest corporations and individuals. The bill is estimated to raise over $1.2 trillion in the next decade and was endorsed by the New York Times editorial page.

The Supreme Court Term Limits and Regular Appointments Act

Ro's bill would set 18-year term limits for Supreme Court justices. Every two years, the president could nominate a new justice, with the Senate required to consider the nomination within 120 days. After 18 years, justices could still serve on lower courts.

Healthcare

Medicare for All Act

As co-chair of Bernie Sanders' 2020 campaign, Ro championed the Medicare for All Act to guarantee healthcare, including dental and vision, as a right for all. With over 60,000 Americans dying each year due to lack of access, we need Medicare for All to ensure dignity for all.

The Save Medicare Act

Ro introduced a bill to protect Medicare by ending the misleading “Medicare Advantage” label used by private insurers. The bill stops insurers from profiting off the Medicare brand and imposes fines for deceptive practices.

State Based Universal Healthcare

A strong advocate for Medicare for All, Ro introduced a bill to allow states to implement universal healthcare, creating a model for the federal government. This provides examples of successful single-payer systems as we push for nationwide coverage.

Housing

The Stop Wall Street Landlords Act

Ro's plan to tackle the housing crisis targets Wall Street landlords buying single-family homes and raising rents. His bill ends tax breaks for investors, like the mortgage interest deduction, and introduces new taxes to stop them from buying up homes, turning them into Airbnbs or rental units.

Corporate Accountability

The BEZOS Act

With Senator Bernie Sanders, Ro introduced the BEZOS Act to hold corporations accountable for paying a livable wage. The bill's strong support pushed Amazon to raise its hourly wage to $15.

The Decreasing Emergency Railroad Accident Instances Locally (DERAIL) Act

After the East Palestine train derailment, Ro introduced a bill to tighten safety rules and hold railroads accountable. It expands the definition of “high-hazard flammable train” to ensure trains carrying hazardous materials meet stricter safety standards.

Education

The College for All Act

Ro joined Bernie Sanders to make public colleges free for most families, eliminate community college tuition, and offer free trade schools. He also supports canceling student debt for working and middle class Americans.

Climate

A Green New Deal for Health

Ro and Senator Ed Markey introduced this bill to address health issues from climate change, like asthma and pollution. The bill invests in a more resilient healthcare system, improves sustainability, and supports patients, providers, and communities.

Big Oil Windfall Profit Tax

Ro and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse introduced the Big Oil Windfall Profit Tax to hold Big Oil accountable for price gouging. The excessive profits would be returned to Americans who paid higher gas prices.

Big Oil Investigation

As Chair of the House Oversight Environmental Subcommittee, Ro led a historic investigation into Big Oil, bringing the CEOs of major fossil fuel companies before Congress to testify for the first time under oath about climate disinformation. He also held hearings on leaded aviation fuel’s health risks, wildfire preparation, and protecting the food supply from climate change.

Guns

Assault Weapons Ban

Ro has long pushed for an assault weapons ban, stronger background checks, and closing gun show loopholes. He backed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act but believes it fell short. He’s also teamed up with Warriors coach Steve Kerr to host a town hall on gun violence, uniting community leaders and survivors to demand real reform.

Reproductive Rights

The Women's Health Protection Act

Ro is a proud co-sponsor of this bill to restore abortion rights nationwide after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, which stripped women of control over their bodies and futures, especially affecting low-income women, women of color, and those in rural areas.

Manufacturing and Jobs

PRO Act

Ro led the PRO Act with House Democrats to protect workers' right to unionize and collectively bargain, ensuring dignity and respect for all workers.

The National Economic Development Council Act

Ro and then-Senator Marco Rubio introduced a bipartisan bill to restore American manufacturing, authorizing $20 billion over 10 years for manufacturing. It brings together top officials to develop a targeted strategy for boosting national security, manufacturing, and new technologies in areas that have been deindustrialized.

The GAIN Act

Ro and Senator Sherrod Brown introduced the GAIN Act to double the Earned Income Tax Credit and address 40 years of wage stagnation.

Internet Bill of Rights

When Ro was elected to represent Silicon Valley, Speaker Nancy Pelosi asked him to create an Internet Bill of Rights. The 10 principles cover online privacy, discrimination, and net neutrality, aiming to shape tech for the public good. At its heart, it is a push to shape tech for public good.
